ECNEC approves 9 dev projects worth Tk 36,695cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has cleared nine development projects with a combined estimated cost of Tk 36695.72 crore.

The approvals were granted at a meeting held on Wednesday at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The session was chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman.

According to official figures, the bulk of the funding Tk 36490.93 crore will be provided from the government’s own resources, while Tk 204.79 crore will be financed through the respective implementing agencies’ internal funds.

Of the nine projects endorsed, three are entirely new initiatives, five are revised proposals with updated cost or scope, and one project has been granted an extension to complete its work.

The meeting was attended by cabinet ministers, state ministers, members of the Planning Commission and senior government officials from the relevant ministries and divisions.
