Six children drown in two districts

Six children drowned in separate incidents in Narayanganj and Noakhali districts in two days.

NARAYANGANJ: The bodies of two teenagers, who went missing while bathing in the DND canal in Siddhirganj of the city, have been recovered. Locals found their bodies floating in the water on Tuesday morning and informed the police. 

The deceased were Monir and Shuvo. They are residents of the Burma Stand area.

NOAKHALI: Four children have drowned on Monday in Hatiya and Kabirhat upazilas of the district. 
Nusrat Begum Mariam, 6, drowned in a pond next to her house in Charlaitta Village of Ward No. 2 of Hatia Municipality at 9 am on Monday. Later, her body was recovered from the pond at 11 am during a search by family members. Mariam was the daughter of local resident Miraj.

Earlier, the body of a child named Saimun, 4, was found floating in a pond in Sonadia Union of Hatiya early Sunday. He was the son of Md Farid of that area. Family members said the child had been missing since Saturday afternoon. 

On the other hand, two children named Niha, 3, and Jannat, 5, drowned in a hole created by earth cutting while playing in Narottampur Union of Kabirhat Upazila on Monday morning.
