Police have arrested an elderly woman for allegedly slitting her husband's throat at Chaugachhi village of Natore sadar upazila on Saturday.

The arrested, Ratezan Begum, 65, allegedly murdered her 70-year-old husband, Manu Sarkar, inside their home.

According to police and local sources, long-standing family feuds between the couple culminated in a heated argument earlier in the day. After the altercation, Manu went to work in the fields. The attack occurred when he returned home and sat down to rest and Ratezan attacked him with a sharp local weapon. He died on the spot from excessive bleeding.

Upon receiving the news, Natore Sadar Police rushed to the scene, recovered the victim's body and immediately took Ratezan Begum into custody.

Natore Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mansur Rahman confirmed the arrest, stating that the homicide was triggered by a domestic dispute.

He added that the accused is currently under police interrogation and legal proceedings against her are underway.
