The government has directed compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations across the country to remain open 24 hours-per day for 13 consecutive days starting from May 21 - ahead of and following Eid-ul-Azha, in an effort to ensure uninterrupted transport services, official sources said.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division  has instructed the state-run Petrobangla to take the necessary measures in this regard to ensure adequate gas supply to CNG stations during May 21-June 2. Under the directive, the filling stations will operate continuously for seven days before Eid, on Eid day itself, and for five days afterwards, reflecting the government's attempt to reduce travel disruptions as millions leave major cities to celebrate the festival with families.
