
"Fire-fighters' only vow, we will keep assets and lives safe"- with this theme, Fire Service and Civil Defence Week has begun in the districts of the country.
As part of the observance of the week, the national flag and departmental flag were hoisted at the inaugural session on Wednesday. Colourful rallies were brought out and discussion meetings were held on the first day of the week.
JOYPURHAT: On Wednesday morning, a colourful rally was brought out and a discussion meeting was held on the inaugural day of the week. Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Md Al-Mamun Mia attended the event as the chief guest and officially inaugurated the Fire Service Week.
After the inauguration, a colourful procession paraded through the main roads of the city. Fire Service officials and employees, volunteers, and ordinary people from various walks of life took part in the procession.
The event was chaired by Shariful Islam, Sub-Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Joypurhat. Special guests present were Md Masud Rana Pradhan, Administrator of Joypurhat District Council; Warehouse Inspector Rubel Rana; and Monzur-e-Mowla Palash, Member Secretary of the District Krishak Dal.
NARAYANGANJ: A colourful rally was brought out and a discussion meeting was held in the city.
After the rally, the participants in the discussion meeting highlighted various messages on fire prevention, disaster management and raising public awareness.
The discussion, chaired by Abdullah Al Arefin, Sub-Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, was attended by DC of Narayanganj Md Rayhan Kabir as the chief guest.
At the event, also present were Nurul Alam, Senior Station In-Charge of Hajiganj Fire Station; Shahjahan Mia, Senior Station In-Charge of Narayanganj Sadar Fire Service Station; Miron Mia, Station In-Charge of Adamjee EPZ Fire Service Station; Jahangir Alam, Station In-Charge of Kanchpur Model Fire Service Station; and Abdul Halim, Senior Station In-Charge of Fatullah Fire Service Station.
Speakers said, Fire Service members are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, and that it is possible to reduce the risk of accidents and fires by raising awareness.
At the end of the meeting, in response to journalists' questions on what should be done to prevent accidents from gas leaks in Narayanganj recently, DC Rayhan Kabir, said that joint initiatives are being taken to control such accidents. He also mentioned various steps, including the renovation of Titas's old transmission lines.
RAJBARI: On Wednesday morning, the Rajbari District Fire Service and Civil Defence Office organised various programmes to highlight the significance of the day. These included a rally, march-past, guard of honour, formal flag hoisting, an exhibition of fire-extinguishing equipment, and raising public awareness about the techniques involved.
The chief guest at the event was DC Afroza Parveen. The event was chaired by the Deputy Director of Fire Service in Rajbari Dewan Sohel Rana, and Station Director Md. Shamim Mollah was also present.
PIROJPUR: As part of the observance of the week, a rally was brought out in the town from the fire station and, after parading main roads, it ended at the same place in the town.
Later, a discussion meeting was organised. DC Abu Sayed attended it as the chief guest. District Council Administrator Principal Almagir Hossain and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammed Monjur Ahmed Siddique were present as special guests. ADC (General) Md Alauddin Bhuyian Jony presided over the meeting. Sub-Assistant Director (Acting) of Fire Services and Civil Defence Jugal Biswas delivered his welcome address. A demonstration of fire-fighting was stressed.
