Investigators have received key forensic reports in the case over the rape and murder of child Ramisa Akter in Pallabi, Dhaka, paving the way for the submission of the charge sheet, which is expected as early as today.

On Saturday night, the investigating officer collected the DNA report, postmortem findings and viscera report from the forensic unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The documents were formally handed over to Sub-Inspector Ahiduzzaman Bhuiyan Nipun of Pallabi Police Station, who is leading the case investigation.

CID Special Superintendent of Police (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan confirmed that all forensic reports prepared by the CID have now been submitted to the investigating officer.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) NM Nasiruddin also confirmed receipt of the reports, saying the investigation had entered its final stage following the arrival of the key forensic documents.

He said preparations for the charge sheet were already underway and it could be submitted very soon.

Police said the case is now in its concluding phase after the forensic evidence was integrated into the investigation file.
The body of Ramisa was recovered on the morning of May 19 from beneath a bed inside a flat in Pallabi, Mirpur. Her severed head was later found in a bathroom, prompting a murder case at Pallabi Police Station.

Police initially detained the wife of the prime accused, Sohel Rana, identified as Swapna Akter. Sohel Rana was later arrested and is reported to have given a confessional statement before a court admitting involvement in the crime.
Officials have indicated that once the charge sheet is submitted, the case will move to the next stage of judicial proceedings without delay.
