Mirza Fakhrul calls for solidarity with poor amid Eid ul Azha

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged citizens to uphold the values of sacrifice and compassion during Eid ul Azha by standing beside the poor and vulnerable.

In a message issued on Tuesday ahead of the festival, Fakhrul extended greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and around the world, wishing them peace, happiness and prosperity.

He described Eid ul Azha as a celebration rooted in devotion, obedience to Almighty Allah and the pursuit of spiritual closeness through sacrifice.

The BNP leader, who also serves as minister for local government, rural development and co operatives, said the festival carries a universal message of equality and generosity. 

He noted that Muslims across the globe observe the occasion in unity, and that the ritual sacrifice of animals symbolises the need to purge evil from one’s heart and embrace humility and simplicity.

According to Fakhrul, the essence of Eid ul Azha lies in unconditional submission to Allah and dedication to the welfare of humanity. He said the moral lessons of the festival should encourage people to look beyond personal interests and contribute to the well being of others.

He added that religious festivals strengthen social bonds and help bridge divisions, guiding society away from discord and toward shared human values.

Calling on people to embody the spirit of sacrifice in practical ways, Fakhrul urged citizens to extend assistance to those in need during the celebrations. 

He concluded with prayers that Eid ul Azha bring lasting joy and prosperity to all.
