Rail services have been disrupted as a freight train wagon derailed in the capital's Tejgaon area on Sunday afternoon
The incident occurred near Tejgaon Railway Station around 4 PM, causing temporary suspension of outbound train services from Dhaka towards northern regions.
According to railway sources, the derailed wagon is being removed and recovery operations are underway. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
Officials said trains from the northern parts of the country are still entering Dhaka, but services leaving the capital towards the north have been halted until clearance of the tracks is completed.
Dhaka Railway Police Station confirmed that two wagons were involved in the derailment. Efforts are ongoing to restore normal rail operations as soon as possible.
Railway authorities said train movement is expected to return to normal shortly after the wagons are lifted. An investigation may be launched to determine the cause of the derailment.
