Six Ministers, State Ministers get new responsibilities

Six ministers and state ministers have been assigned the responsibility of reviewing government employees' pay grades and various allowances.

The government has formed a six-member committee headed by Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. The committee includes the Home Minister, four other ministers and a state minister.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (November 5). A government gazette was also published on the same day.

The other members of the committee are Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain (Bakul), and State Minister for Public Administration and Food Md Abdul Bari.

According to the notification, the committee will review complaints regarding inconsistencies in the pay scales of government employees and make necessary recommendations for resolving them.

It will also recommend future revisions, increases or reductions in pay grades and adjustments to the existing structure.

Besides, the committee will review proposals for introducing new risk allowances and other benefits for government employees, as well as increasing or reducing existing allowance rates, and submit recommendations to the government.

The Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Secretaries of the Prime Minister's Office, Public Administration Ministry and Finance Division, along with other relevant ministry and division secretaries, will provide necessary assistance to the committee.

The committee may also co-opt new members if necessary.

The notification further stated that the committee would hold meetings as required, while the Finance Division would provide secretarial support.
