Four killed in road mishaps in 3 districts

Four people were killed and three injured in separate road accidents in Naogaon, Gopalganj and Joypurhat districts on Monday.

DHAMOIRHAT, NAOGAON: A motorcyclist named Azizar Rahman, 30, was crushed to death by a truck and his father Nuruzzaman Hossain, 50, was injured in front of the Biharinagar Bridge on the Amaitara-Najipur regional road in Dhamoirhat Upazila of the district on Monday night.

According to local and police sources, on the way home in Chaksubal Village of Alampur Union from Amaitara Bazar, the motorcycle carrying the father and the son collided head-on with a truck in the Biharinagar area due to the hay on the road, leaving Azizar Rahman dead on the spot and Nuruzzaman injured. He was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhamoirhat Police Station (PS) Mintu Rahman said that the body was handed over to the family for burial.

GOPALGANJ: A van puller was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a van on the Dhaka-Khulna highway at Gopinathpur in Sadar Upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.
Deceased Ayub Khan, 55, was the son of Barek Khan, a resident of Boalia Village in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila. 
Gopinathpur Police Investigation Centre In-charge (Inspector) Md Momenul Islam confirmed the incident and said that a Dola Paribahan passenger bus leaving from Dhaka hit the van loaded with passengers on Monday afternoon, killing Ayub Khan on the spot and injuring two other passengers. The injured are being treated at Gopalganj General Hospital.
JOYPURHAT: Two motorcyclists, a man and his younger brother-in-law, were killed on Monday after being crushed by a speeding pick-up van in Khetlal Upazila of Joypurhat. 
The deceased are Imon Khondokar, 29, son of Tajul Islam Khondokar from Sharail Khondokarpara Village in Kalai Upazila, and Ferdous Hossain, 13, son of Shamsul from Harunj Village. Injured in the incident is Imon Khondokar's wife, Suraiaya, 19.
The accident occurred on Monday afternoon in the Kharikata Kharita area on the Nishchinta-Chanpara road. 
Khetlal PS OC Muktarul Islam confirmed the matter.
OC Muktarul Islam said that the deceased Imon Khondokar was going with his wife Suraiaya and his brother-in-law Ferdous Hossain on a motorcycle from his home to Panchbibi Khela's house for a meal. Due to straw on the road, the motorcycle skidded and fell. At that time, a pick-up coming from Chanpara crushed the motorcycle. Imon Khondokar died at the spot. Locals rescued Ferdous Hossain and took him to Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. 
The OC also said that Suraiaya is being treated at Kalai Upazila Health Complex.
