SATKHIRA, June 4: Two Bangladeshi nationals were critically injured after being shot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Basantapur border in Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira early Wednesday.

The incident occurred when they were allegedly entering Bangladesh from India illegally.
The injured were identified as Md Mohiuddin, 42, son of Md Golam Rabbani, and Md Shahin, 28, son of the late Fazor Ali Sardar. Both are residents of Shitalpur Village in Kaliganj Upazila.

According to local and family sources, Mohiuddin and Shahin were crossing the Indian border and swimming across the Kalindi River to enter Bangladesh through the Basantapur River terminal around 2 am. At that time, a BSF patrolling team opened fire on them, leaving both with serious bullet wounds.

Later, around 3:15 am, locals rescued them and rushed them to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. As their conditions deteriorated, the attending doctor referred them to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.
