The government has decided to organise roadshows to attract domestic and foreign investment in closed and loss-making state-owned industrial enterprises, as part of efforts to revive the sector.
The decision was taken at a meeting on the reopening of closed factories chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Cabinet Division conference room at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu said the relevant authorities had been instructed to complete all necessary preparations within this month.
The meeting reviewed the condition of closed and underperforming factories under the Ministry of Industries. Senior officials from various organisations presented reports outlining the challenges, prospects and measures needed to revive the enterprises.
According to Shiplu, the prime minister directed officials to identify effective ways to quickly reopen closed factories and turn loss-making enterprises into profitable ventures.
He also stressed the importance of attracting both local and foreign investment to support the revival of these industries.
The meeting was informed that recommendations from a committee of experts are being sought to facilitate the reopening of closed factories and improve the performance of underperforming enterprises.
Officials were asked to finalise preparatory work for the investment roadshows by the end of the month.
