National Citizen Party (NCP) on Friday unveiled their shadow budget for the 2026-27 financial year titled 'Bangladesh 2.0: Sustainable Growth through Reform, Employment and Investment.'
At a press conference, the shadow budget was announced.
NCP leaders said the shadow budget seeks to reduce inflation, expand employment opportunities, boost investment and improve citizens' living standards through structural reforms.
The proposed budget size is Tk 8,52,157 crore, which is Tk 62,157 crore higher than the current fiscal year.
The party Chief Organiser (South) and lawmaker Hasnat Abdullah said the
shadow budget, aimed at an equitable and discrimination-free economy,
was prepared after more than two months of consultations with various
stakeholders.
The NCP outlined a plan to reduce inflation from the current level of about 9.2 per cent to 8 per cent in the next financial year and eventually to 6 per cent.
To boost revenue collection, the party proposed linking income tax return submissions with electricity connections and integrating taxpayer databases with national identity cards, banking services and mobile financial platforms.
