Seven more children have died across the country due to measles-related symptoms in the 24 hours ending at 8:00 AM on Sunday.

According to the daily report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the capital was the worst hit, accounting for four of the latest fatalities.

The report noted that during this 24-hour period, one death each was also recorded in the Chittagong, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions.

In terms of new cases, 1,221 children exhibited suspected measles symptoms, while 66 were officially confirmed to be suffering from the disease, bringing the total number of newly affected children to 1,287.

Since monitoring began on March 15, the outbreak has claimed the lives of 620 children in total. This includes 529 deaths from suspected symptoms and 91 deaths among patients with confirmed measles infections.

DGHS data reveals a massive scale of infection, with 79,012 children showing symptoms since mid-March.

Out of these, 64,263 children required hospitalization. Public health officials reported a silver lining in recovery rates, as 60,084 children have successfully completed treatment and returned home from various medical facilities.
