Two electrocuted while digging grave at B’baria

B’BARIA, June 8: Two people were killed and six others injured after being electrocuted while digging a grave in Nayamatpur Village under Mulgram Union of Kasba Upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Sanauallah, 17, son of Mortuj Mia of Nayamatpur Village, and Nur Mia, 55.

Local sources said the incident occurred while villagers were preparing the grave of Moti Sarkar’s wife, who had recently passed away. During the process, a stainless-steel sheet used for covering the grave came into contact with a rural power distribution line passing over the cemetery, triggering a sudden electric shock.

Sanauallah and Nur Mia died on the spot, while six others were injured. The injured received primary treatment locally.
Following the incident, local administration and police visited the scene and confirmed the details. A responsible officer from the Kasba Circle said the matter is under investigation.

The tragic accident cast a shadow of grief over the area, with family members of the deceased mourning deeply at the scene.
