Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz categorically backed the recall of all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and fast bowler Nahid Rana, clarifying their inclusion as part of the team's long-term planning ahead of next year's ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

"Mosaddek has been performing well in domestic cricket for many years. He is playing good cricket and is in good condition in terms of fitness. I think this is the right time to bring him into the team," Miraz said here on Monday.

The Bangladesh captain believes Mosaddek's presence will add greater balance to the side by strengthening both the batting and bowling departments.

"He adds further balance to the side and bolsters our lower-order batting, an area in which we have some shortcomings," Miraz said.

"I think his inclusion will plug that gap and give us a very good balance."

Miraz also pointed out the value of having an additional bowling option in the squad, saying it provides greater flexibility for the team management and increases the captain's confidence during matches.

The captain further explained the decision to bring back fast bowler Nahid Rana, who has impressed with his express pace and emerged as one of Bangladesh's most exciting pace prospects.

"We all know about Nahid Rana's ability. He can bowl in good areas with pace," Miraz said.

"To be successful in South Africa, which will host the World Cup next year; it is very important to have quality pacers in the team. We trusted him, supported him regularly and he has repaid that trust."

Miraz said Bangladesh's team management is focused on building a well-balanced squad capable of competing in different conditions, with particular emphasis on developing a strong pace attack for the World Cup campaign.

"Nahid's return reflects the team's commitment to investing in players who can make a significant impact on the global stage," he said.    "BSS
