A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred the submission of the supplementary investigation report in the murder case of Inquilab Mancha Convener Sharif Osman Hadi for the 15th time, setting June 17 as the next date.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sefatullah fixed the date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report.

The case was transferred to the CID for further investigation after the complainant, Inquilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, expressed dissatisfaction with the Detective Branch's charge sheet filed on January 6 against 17 accused.

Hadi, who had announced plans to contest the 13th parliamentary election as an independent candidate from Dhaka-8, was shot while campaigning in the capital's Bijoynagar area on December 12. He was later flown to Singapore for treatment, where he died on December 18.

Investigators have alleged that the killing was politically motivated and intended to disrupt the upcoming parliamentary election and create fear among voters.
