Prime Minister Tarique Rahman congratulated Bangladesh national cricket team for securing its first-ever One Day International (ODI) series victory against five-time world champion Australia.
Bangladesh sealed the historic series win with a match to spare after defeating Australia by five wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in the second ODI, held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Earlier, the Tigers had won the opening ODI at the same venue by 86 runs, also under the DLS method, giving them an unassailable lead in the series.
In a congratulatory message, PM Tarique Rahman expressed hope that Bangladesh’s success in international cricket would continue in the years ahead and inspire the country’s younger generation to become more involved in sports.
He said that by maintaining team unity, discipline, and self-confidence, Bangladesh cricket team would achieve even greater success on the global stage.
The PM extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the players, coaching staff, and all those associated with the team’s remarkable achievement.
