Seven more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Saturday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 677.
Of the deaths due to measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, 6 children have died in Dhaka division and other one in Barishal division. During this time, 887 new cases have been reported.
This information was revealed from the latest report of the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday.
The notification stated that no child has died from confirmed measles, adding that since March 15, a total of 584 children have died from measles symptoms across the country. And 93 more children have lost their lives due to measles. That is, a total of 677 children have died from measles and measles symptoms during this period.
Meanwhile, a total of 807 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 91,789.
During the same period, 80 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 10,949.
During the same period, 746 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. Among them, 265 children were from the Dhaka division, followed by Chattogram with 186 cases and Barishal with 98.
A total of 574 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery over the past 24 hours.
Since March 15, 2026, a total of 75,902 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 71,970 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
