
Selima Ahmad, one of Bangladesh’s renowned women entrepreneurs and business leaders, has passed away. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. According to family sources, she breathed her last at a hospital in Bangkok on Sunday.
She was the wife of Abdul Matlub Ahmad, Chairman of Nitol-Niloy Group and former President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Selima Ahmad also served as the President of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
She was elected as a Member of Parliament from Cumilla in the 2018 national election. Widely regarded as one of the leading women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, Selima Ahmad made significant contributions to the growth of women-led businesses in the country.
She began her entrepreneurial journey by launching a synthetic flower shop named “Konishka” early in her career. Through dedication and innovation, she later became an influential figure in the business community.
Known for her humility, kindness, and courteous personality, Selima Ahmad was respected by colleagues and professionals across various sectors.
