Swedish envoy meets Jamaat chief

Sweden’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Nicolas Weeks, paid a courtesy call on Opposition Leader and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, on Sunday morning at the Opposition Leader’s office in the National Parliament complex.

The meeting was attended by First Secretary Matilda Svensson and Second Secretary and Head of Trade, Political and Communications Affairs Olle Lundin from the Swedish Embassy.

During the discussion, the two sides exchanged views on Bangladesh’s post-election situation, Bangladesh-Sweden bilateral relations, trade and investment opportunities, international cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Weeks reaffirmed Sweden’s continued support for Bangladesh and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in the years ahead.

Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties and increasing Swedish investment in Bangladesh. They also discussed prospects for collaboration in key sectors, including sustainable development, technology, trade, and industrial growth.
