BNP MP son Sajib detained in N’ganj

NARAYANGANJ, June 21 Police detained Khairul Islam Sajib, Senior Joint Convener of the Narayanganj District Jubo Dal and son of BNP lawmaker Azharul Islam Mannan of the Narayanganj-3 (Sonargaon-Siddhirganj) constituency, over several allegations including extortion.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tareq Al Mehdi, MP’s son Sajib was detained from his residence in Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka on Sunday afternoon with the assistance of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB).

He was later taken to the office of Narayanganj Superintendent of Police around 5pm for questioning. Police said several complaints, including allegations of extortion, had been lodged against him.

After being interrogated for more than an hour at the SP office, Sajib was transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch headquarters on the instructions of higher authorities for further questioning. He was taken from the Narayanganj SP office to Dhaka in a police vehicle at approximately 630 pm on Sunday.
