Fugitive accused in Amir Hamza murder case held

KHULNA, June 22: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 arrested a fugitive accused in the Amir Hamza murder case from Fakirhat Upazila of Bagerhat District on Saturday evening, said a RAB press release on Sunday.

The press release said, a team of RAB-6 raided a tea stall adjacent to Noapara Bus Stand under Fakirhat Upazila on the basis of a tip-off and arrested Md Sohel Hossain alias Body Sohel, 36, an accused named in the murder case filed with Chitalmari Police Station (PS). 

Sohel and other accused allegedly shot Amir Hamza over previous enmity on March 20 this year. Locals rushed the critically injured victim to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on-duty declared him dead.

Later, the victim’s mother, Meherunnesa, filed a murder case with Chitalmari PS against the arrested and others. The arrested was later handed over to Chitalmari Police Station for further legal action, the release added.
