Potential for jackfruit-based industry

Dear Sir,

Jackfruit, the national fruit of Bangladesh, has immense potential to contribute to economic growth, employment generation, and export diversification. Despite abundant production across the country, a large portion of jackfruit goes to waste each year due to inadequate storage, processing, and marketing facilities. As a result, farmers often fail to receive fair prices, while the country misses valuable export opportunities.

To capitalize on this opportunity, Bangladesh must establish modern processing centers, cold storage facilities, and efficient supply chains in major jackfruit-producing regions. Research institutions should develop improved varieties and innovative products, while entrepreneurs need access to finance, technology, and investment incentives.

With proper planning and investment, jackfruit can become a powerful driver of rural development, industrialization, employment, and foreign exchange earnings for Bangladesh.
