4,000 coconut saplings distributed among Fakirhat farmers

FAKIRHAT, BAGERHAT, June 25: The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has distributed 4,000 coconut saplings free of cost among farmers in Fakirhat Upazila of Bagerhat under an agricultural rehabilitation support programme aimed at boosting coconut production.

A total of 800 farmers each received five coconut saplings, a bag of Tricho organic fertiliser and bamboo stakes under the tree plantation incentive programme launched by the upazila agriculture office.

The distribution programme was inaugurated at the upazila agriculture office premises on Thursday morning.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rokonujjaman formally handed over the incentives to the beneficiaries, while Upazila Agriculture Officer Sheikh Shakhawat Hossain presided over the event.

The programme was conducted by Upazila DAE Officer Md Towhidul Islam.
