
Five people died from dengue across Bangladesh in the 24 hours ending Monday morning, while 124 new patients were admitted to hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease.
With the latest fatalities, the death toll from dengue this year has risen to 18, while the total number of confirmed cases has reached 5,924.
The figures were disclosed in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular dengue bulletin issued on Monday. According to the bulletin, of the five deaths reported during the past 24 hours, two occurred in Chattogram Division, one in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), one in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one in Mymensingh Division.
The DGHS said that among the 124 newly hospitalised dengue patients, 37 were admitted in Barishal Division (outside the city corporation areas), 28 in Chattogram Division (outside the city corporation areas), two in Dhaka Division (outside the city corporation areas), 16 in Dhaka North City Corporation, and 17 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
