July movement a collective efforts: Atikur Rahman

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman has said that the July movement was not the achievement of any individual or single political party, but the result of the collective efforts of all pro-democracy forces in Bangladesh.

He urged to refrain from claiming sole credit for the movement and from attempting to diminish the contributions of others.

Ruman made the remarks on Saturday while presiding over a discussion and photo exhibition titled "Bangladesh in the Face of Bullets, The End of Fascism," organized by Amra BNP Poribar and the Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association (BPJA) at the Jatiya Press Club. 

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan attended the event as the chief guest.

The Additional Press Secretary said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had endured imprisonment and torture during the struggle to restore democracy, while BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman had also suffered inhumane torture and spent more than 15 years in exile.
