Dhaka University is celebrating its 106th founding anniversary on Wednesday, marking 105 years since its establishment on July 1, 1921.
This year's celebration is being held under the theme, "Re-establishing Democracy and Higher Education at Dhaka University."
Day-long activities include a parade, flag-rising ceremony, cake cutting, cultural programme and seminar.
At 9:30AM, teachers, students, officers, and staff gathered at Smriti Chirantan, followed by a rally led by the vice-chancellor.
The opening ceremony began at 10AM and a discussion meeting was held at the TSC Auditorium at 10:30AM. Emeritus Professor Dr Sirajul Islam Choudhury was present the main paper.
However, the university authorities have not arranged any programme to remember the founders of the university.
