Malaysia has reopened its labour market for Bangladeshi workers, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury said on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters in Sylhet, the minister said employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers were also expanding in other countries, including Japan, South Korea, Mauritius, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
He said the Malaysian labour market reopened on Monday, adding that the government was working to strengthen overseas employment opportunities across multiple destinations.
The labour market for Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia had remained closed since 2024, after the Malaysian government stopped issuing new worker entries following the expiry of a recruitment deadline on May 31 that year.
