Tourist destination Sajek Valley in Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati is temporarily closed by the district administration due to continuous heavy rainfall, the risk of landslides, and disruption to transportation.

The decision was announced in an emergency public notice signed by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Nazma Ashrafi on Tuesday 7 July, 2026, evening.

The notice said the decision was made based on the latest forecast from Bangladesh Meteorological Department and prevailing weather conditions in the district to ensure the safety of tourists and general public.

According to the district administration’s directive, Sajek Valley tourist destination will remain closed from Tuesday, 7 July, 2026, evening until further notice. At the same time, tourists, tour operators, and general public have been prohibited from visiting all tourist attractions, waterfalls, hill trails, remote areas, and other risky locations in Sajek.

The public notice stated that continuous heavy rainfall in Rangamati district in recent days has created the risk of landslides and hill collapses in various areas. At the same time, disruptions to road communications have increased the risk of accidents. Considering these risks, the administration has decided to temporarily close the tourist destination.

In addition, everyone has been urged to exercise maximum caution while travelling in Rangamati district and to strictly follow the instructions of the district administration.

The district administration said it is safest to avoid unnecessary travel to hilly and high-risk areas until the weather conditions return to normal.
