Pakistan High Commission hands over 1,000 footballs to BFF 

In a significant boost to grassroots football, the Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh handed over 1,000 footballs to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) at a ceremony at the Artificial Turf Ground adjacent to the BFF House in Motijheel on Wednesday.

Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider formally presented the footballs to BFF President Tabith Awal, reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthening sporting ties between the two nations. The donated footballs will be distributed across different regions of the country to support the long-term development of grassroots football, according to the federation.

Before the formal handover, the occasion kicked off with an exhibition match featuring two squads of the Bangladesh National Under-17 Women's Team. High Commissioner Imran Haider enjoyed the contest from the sidelines, applauding the young footballers for their skill, determination and promise.

Both sides expressed optimism that sporting collaboration between Bangladesh and Pakistan would continue to gather momentum. They noted that football possesses the unique ability to build bridges beyond the touchline, fostering friendship, goodwill and stronger people-to-people relations while creating fresh opportunities for aspiring players at the grassroots.

Expressing his gratitude, BFF President Tabith Awal thanked the Pakistan High Commission for what he described as a valuable initiative for the advancement of grassroots football. He observed that the support of international partners plays a vital role in the overall development and modernisation of football in Bangladesh and voiced hope that such cooperation would continue in the years ahead.

Representing the Pakistan High Commission at the event were High Commissioner H.E. Imran Haider, Deputy High Commissioner Muhammad Wasif, Counsellor (Press) Mr. Shabidullah, and Trade and Investment Attaché Zain Aziz.

The BFF delegation included Vice-Presidents Md Sabbir Ahmed Aref and Fahad Karim; Executive Committee members Md Iqbal Hossain, Md Manjurul Karim, Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, and Mahfuza Akter Kiron. BFF General Secretary Imran Hossain Tushar also attended the ceremony, underlining the federation's commitment to expanding the game's footprint from the grassroots upwards.
