Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is supporting artificial intelligence (AI)-driven talent developments of students in Bangladesh through a 14-week global training programme, a-JICA a press release said on Thursday.
Around 800 Bangladeshi students took part in “GCI World,” which saw more than 25,000 students from 114 countries participate this year.
The programme was jointly organised by JICA, BRAC University and the University of Tokyo’s Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory.
The closing ceremony was held at BRAC University on Wednesday, attended by students, researchers and academics both online and in person. Seventeen “Outsta-nding Students” were announced globally, including one from Bangladesh, who will visit the Matsuo Lab at the University of Tokyo in August.
A key highlight was the GCI World Hackathon, where participants developed AI-based solutions to real-world problems. The training covered recent advances in AI and the application of data science and machine learning to business and social challenges.
JICA Bangladesh Senior Representative Yuko Morikawa said linking AI education with entrepreneurship, research and industry will help Bangladesh solve its own problems and contribute innovations to the world.
