Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 425 people in separate drives in the capital’s different crime-prone areas over the last 24 hours, while a total of 57 cases were registered.
This information confirmed on Friday by DMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Niaz Mehedi.
The arrests were made during coordinated operations in different police station areas across the capital city, with DMP officers recovering local weapons and contraband drugs including .
Of the arrestees, 39 were from DMP’s Ramna Division, 24 from Lalbagh, 61 from Wari, 57 from Motijheel, 56 from Tejgaon, 88 from Mirpur, 55 from Gulshan, 43 from Uttara Division, and two ones by Detective Branch (DB).
DMP further state police seized 1.77kg cannabis, 6025 Yaba tablets, 3-gram heroin, a three-wheeler vehicle (Mishuk), one rescued victim, nine mobile phones, a hookah pipe, a dice board, Tk 610 in cash, three machetes, two daggers, an axe, a shovel, and a switchblade knife during the operations.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
