Jahangirnagar University (JU) has announced a series of programmes from July 14 to August 5 to commemorate the spirit of the July 2024 mass uprising and mark the anniversary of the fall of the former fascist regime.
The schedule, announced in a notice signed by acting registrar Dr. A.B.M. Azizur Rahman on Monday, includes the inauguration of a memorial plaque on July 14, discussions, a documentary screening, a campus-wide one-minute blackout, candlelight vigils, prayers for the martyrs and injured, and tribute ceremonies.
On August 5, the university will hold a victory rally and a collective rendition of the national anthem involving teachers, students, officers, and staff. The observance will conclude on August 6 with a remembrance event, documentary screening, competitions, and a cultural programme.
