2 more die of dengue

Two more people have died after contracting Aedes mosquito-borne dengue fever, while 327 new infections were reported across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours.

The information was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the statement, one death each was reported in the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions during the reporting period. Both victims were women aged between 26 and 35 years. With the latest fatalities, the country's dengue death toll has risen to 27 this year.

The DGHS also said that a total of 8,650 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals so far this year. Of them, 7,800 have been discharged after recovery, while 823 patients are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country. The highest number of hospitalised patients�"296�"is receiving treatment in the Dhaka Division.

An analysis of the fatalities shows that of the 27 people who have died from dengue this year, 15 were women, accounting for 55.6 percent of the total, while 12 were men, representing 44.4 percent.
