Meeting on Hajj '27 package today 

The executive committee of the Hajj Management Committee, headed by Religious Affairs Adviser Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, failed to finalise the Hajj-2027 packages on Tuesday after members remained divided over airfare, delaying the official announcement.

The committee is scheduled to meet again today (Wednesday) in a fresh bid to break the deadlock. The Religious Affairs Ministry is expected to announce the government Hajj packages once a consensus is reached.

According to meeting sources, the government as well as the Biman Bangladesh Airlines has proposed to fix the plane fare at Tk1,42,000, which is around 12,830 less than the previous year 2026. But, the leaders of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) opposed the proposal and urged for further lessening. As both sides were rigid on the stance, the meeting ended without any decision.

Sources said, the meeting will further sit today to finalise the decision. Once they could come to a consensus, the Hajj packages for government management pilgrims will be announced. Following the government packages, the private agencies led by HAAB will announce private packages tomorrow (Thursday).

Sources claimed that this year, the minimum Hajj packages will remain below Tk 4.50 lakh, which was Tk 4.67 lakh in 2026. The second package for government managed pilgrims last year was Tk 5.59 lakh. The package-3 was Tk 690,597.

Under the packages, pilgrims choosing Package-1 will be accommodated within 700 metres of Masjid al-Haram, those opting for Package-2 within 1.7 kilometres of the Grand Mosque, and Package-3 pilgrims will stay in the Aziziyah area.
