The low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coast remains active in the same region and is likely to intensify further, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The weather system may trigger squally weather over the seaports, the northern Bay and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
In a weather warning issued on Thursday (July 16), the BMD advised the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to continue displaying local cautionary signal no. 3.
The department also urged all fishing boats and trawlers to remain close to the coast and navigate with caution until further notice.
