Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, with four of the deaths reported in Dhaka division. During the same period, 1,092 new suspected cases were identified.
The information was revealed in the regular measles situation report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday (July 15).
According to the DGHS, a total of 771 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country since March 15. Of them, 95 deaths were confirmed to be caused by measles, while 676 deaths were linked to measles-like symptoms.
The report said that 1,092 new patients, including suspected cases, were detected in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 114,164 between March 15 and the morning of July 15.
Meanwhile, 172 more children tested positive for measles in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed measles cases to 13,907 since March 15.
