BGB deployed in Gopalganj ahead of July 16 anniversary

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Gopalganj to tighten security ahead of July 16.

BGB members started patrolling important areas of the district town on Wednesday morning. Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police are also patrolling jointly with them.

Police checkpoints have been set up at various important points in the town. Law enforcement personnel are also on duty in plainclothes.

Notably, five people were killed in a clash between law enforcement forces and Awami League leaders and activists on July 16, 2025. The violence centered on an NCP march.

Law enforcement was strengthened in Gopalganj today over fears of untoward incidents and deterioration of law and order surrounding this day.
