Zimbabwe kicked off their T20 series against Bangladesh with a 32-run victory. However, captain Sikandar Raza remains far from satisfied. The skipper emphasized the need for his team to elevate their game to keep pace with the global cricket standards.
Raza said in the post-match presentation, ‘World cricket has moved forward. Zimbabwe has long been known as a 160-170 run team. If improvement is not seen and target 200-plus scores, we will fall behind other nations.’
Despite scoring 171 runs against Bangladesh, Raza urged his batters to be more aggressive and assume greater responsibility.
The Zimbabwe captain also highlighted the need to better utilize the team's all-rounders. He pointed out that several players with dual skills are currently underutilized.
‘We have several good all-rounders, but they are not being used enough. Milton Shumba is a good left-arm spinner. If he does not get to bowl, how do we assess his progress?’ Raza asked.
Despite leading the series, Raza wants his team to embrace pressure to foster growth. ‘I want us to create pressure on ourselves as a team and learn to handle it. This will build responsibility, confidence, and self-belief,’ he concluded.
