BNP submits accounts to EC with Tk 6.7cr surplus

 
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has reported a surplus of Tk 6.7 crore in its party fund after posting higher income and expenditure in its latest audited financial statement submitted to the Election Commission (EC).

According to the accounts, BNP earned Tk 22.26 crore during the last fiscal year against an expenditure of Tk 15.19 crore, leaving a surplus of Tk 6.7 crore.

A three-member BNP delegation, led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, submitted the party's audited annual income and expenditure report to the EC at its Agargaon headquarters on Sunday.

The delegation also included BNP Treasurer and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Joint Department Secretary Monir Hossain. They handed over the report to EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Hossain.

The financial statement shows a significant increase in both income and expenditure compared with previous years.

From January 1 to December 31, 2024, the party reported an income of Tk 15.65 crore and expenditure of Tk 4.80 crore. In 2023, BNP recorded an income of Tk 1.10 crore against spending of Tk 3.65 crore.

Under the Representation of the People Order (RPO), all registered political parties must submit audited statements of their income and expenditure for the previous calendar year to the Election Commission by July 31.

Failure to submit audited accounts for three consecutive years can result in the cancellation of a party's registration under the law.
