Iran claims US Patriot defence system destroyed

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it destroyed a US Patriot air defence system and a radar installation in Bahrain during coordinated missile and drone strikes.

According to a statement carried by Iran’s state-run broadcaster IRIB, the IRGC said the attacks targeted a Patriot air defence system in the Al-Riffa area and a radar station in Muharraq. The force described the operation as a major strategic success against US military assets stationed in the Gulf.

The IRGC further said the strikes on military sites in Bahrain were intended to pave the way for broader military operations in the region. It also signalled the possibility of further action, saying Tehran was prepared to intensify its operations against US military positions.

The claims could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate confirmation from the United States or Bahrain regarding the reported attacks.
