
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty winds of 45 to 60 km/h in 10 regions, including Dhaka and Chattogram, and asked river ports in the affected areas to display warning signal No. 1.
According to the inland river port forecast issued for 5:00am to 1:00pm on Friday, the warning applies to Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
The BMD also forecast rain or thundershowers in most parts of the country, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at some places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
In its forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas, the weather office said the sky may remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with rain or thundershowers likely during the next six hours from 7:00am. Winds may blow from the south or southeast at 10 to 15 km/h, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
The 24-hour forecast also said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely in most parts of Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, and many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions by Friday evening.
