An investigation report has been submitted against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 10 others in connection with the killing of Teknaf municipality councillor Ekramul Haque, who was killed eight years ago.
The prosecution placed the report before International Crimes Tribunal-2, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, on Sunday.
Ekramul was killed on the night of May 26, 2018, in what authorities at the time described as a "gunfight" with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). The incident triggered widespread public outrage, particularly after a leaked phone conversation surfaced, and later drew international attention in discussions surrounding sanctions.
At the time, Ekramul was the elected councillor of Ward No. 3 of Teknaf Municipality and had served as president of the Teknaf Upazila Jubo League for 12 years.
Earlier, former lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi was shown arrested in the crimes against humanity case over Ekramul's killing. On July 20, 2025, the International Crimes Tribunal ordered that he be sent to jail.
