Worker dispatch to Malaysia to begin by late Aug: Mahdi Amin

New workers from Bangladesh through Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) will begin in the last week of August, said Mahdi Amin, advisor to the Prime Minister on Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
He shared this information on Thursday, July 30 at 2:00PM local time during a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. Mahdi Amin addressed the press briefing as the representative of the Prime Minister in the presence of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, who is currently visiting Malaysia.
Speaking at the event, he said high-level, positive, and fruitful discussions took place between both countries to reopen the closed labor market and speed up the low-cost worker deployment process with complete transparency.
Stating that worker dispatch via BOESL at low costs will start by the last week of August, the Prime Minister's Adviser emphasized that the government remains determined to keep the labor market syndicate-free and transparent.
He noted that the government is committed to ensuring general workers can migrate to Malaysia safely and affordably. However, no specific details were provided regarding the exact costs involved.
The total number of workers allowed to migrate was also not specified. However, he mentioned that discussions took place regarding allowing Bangladeshi workers to join all traditional sectors as before.
Although journalists were not given an opportunity to ask questions during the press briefing, Mahdi Amin stated that further information regarding worker deployment will be released in phases by both Bangladesh and Malaysia.
