Real Madrid ready to sell Vinicius if contract talks fail

Real Madrid are prepared to let Vinicius Junior leave this summer if the Brazilian forward refuses to accept the club's final contract renewal offer, according to reports. With negotiations stalled for months, the Spanish giants are unwilling to improve their latest proposal and are determined to avoid losing one of their biggest stars on a free transfer.

Real Madrid are no longer desperate to keep Vinicius Junior at any cost, with the club reportedly ready to sanction his departure if he does not agree to a new contract.

According to ESPN, citing sources close to the negotiations, Real have informed the Brazilian winger's representatives that their latest renewal offer is final and will not be revised. Spanish daily Marca also reported that the club has ruled out further negotiations over improved terms.

If Vinicius accepts the proposal, his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu will be extended. However, should he reject the offer, Real are prepared to facilitate his transfer during the current summer window rather than risk him entering the final year of his contract and leaving on a free transfer.

The development is expected to alert several European clubs, with Arsenal reportedly among those monitoring the situation. ESPN said the Premier League side believes it would be well positioned to sign the 26-year-old if he decides to leave Madrid. However, sources close to the player insist there has been no direct contact with the English champions so far.

Vinicius is due to return to Real Madrid's Valdebebas training complex on Monday after his post-World Cup break, but uncertainty over his future remains unresolved. A meeting between club officials and the player's representatives has yet to be scheduled.

According to Marca, months of negotiations have failed to produce a breakthrough, prompting Real Madrid to adopt a firmer stance. Club officials believe the time has come for Vinicius to decide whether he wants to extend his contract or pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

Brazilian outlet Globo reported that the main point of disagreement is not the player's salary but the signing bonus attached to the proposed five-year deal. Vinicius currently earns around €18.5 million per year, including performance-related bonuses, close to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's reported salary ceiling of €20 million.

The report added that Real's latest offer, made after Brazil's World Cup exit, was lower than the financial package Vinicius had sought last season. The club argues that signing bonuses should remain below those awarded to free-transfer arrivals such as Kylian Mbappe. Vinicius' camp, however, believes their demands are modest compared with the cost Real Madrid would incur to replace one of the world's top forwards.

Since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018, Vinicius has developed into one of world football's elite players, scoring in two UEFA Champions League finals and finishing runner-up in the 2024 Ballon d'Or voting.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have been active in the transfer market, recently signing forward Carlos Espi, while Ivorian youngster Yan Diomande is also expected to join soon. With increased competition in attack, the contract dispute could further complicate Vinicius' role under new head coach Jose Mourinho if an agreement is not reached.
