Ronaldo's continued absence raises questions at Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to return to Al Nassr's pre-season training camp following the FIFA World Cup, with uncertainty continuing over when the Portuguese superstar will rejoin the Saudi Pro League club ahead of the new season.

Ronaldo has remained absent from Al Nassr's training camp since the conclusion of the World Cup, despite expectations that he would return after completing his scheduled post-tournament break.

According to multiple media reports, the 40-year-old forward is expected to join the squad only after the club returns to Saudi Arabia from its training camp in Lisbon, Portugal.

Al Nassr began its pre-season camp in Lisbon on July 19, but Ronaldo did not take part. Following Portugal's Round of 16 exit to Spain at the World Cup, it had been widely expected that he would rejoin the team after his rest period.

However, Saudi journalist Ratiban Al-Dousari claimed that Ronaldo will resume training with Al Nassr only after the team's Portugal camp concludes and the squad returns to Riyadh.

Al Nassr's Lisbon training camp is scheduled to end on Aug. 5. After returning to Riyadh, the players are expected to be given a short break, meaning Ronaldo could join team training around one week before the start of the new season.

Al Nassr will begin its 2026-27 Saudi Pro League campaign against Al Fateh on Aug.15.
