NSTU arranges blood donation, art competition

NOAKHALI, Aug 4:  Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) observed July Uprising on Tuesday with a voluntary blood donation programme and a painting competition.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Golam Rabbani inaugurated the blood donation drive by donating blood at the university's Shaheed Mugdha Medical Centre.

Speaking at the event, he said the university had undertaken a series of programmes to commemorate the July Uprising of 2024 and uphold its ideals.

"The enthusiastic participation of teachers, students, officers and staff will make these programmes more meaningful," he said, thanking the organisers and wishing success for the blood donation campaign.

Later, the vice-chancellor inaugurated a painting competition for children at the Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Mohammad Ruhul Amin Auditorium.

Addressing participants, he said such initiatives help nurture children's creativity while encouraging patriotism and inspiring them to contribute to building a better Bangladesh in line with the ideals of the 2024 uprising.

Among others present were Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Hasan Uddin, Chief Medical Officer (Administration) Prof Dr Mohammad Selim Hossain, as well as teachers, students, officers and employees of the university.

The blood donation programme also offered free blood grouping and blood glucose tests. The initiative was supported by the NSTU Blood Brigade and the Noakhali Blood Bank.

The painting competition featured participants from NSTU and several educational institutions, with contests held in three categories.
