General Secretary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Nasir Uddin Nasir said remark made by President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibiris is an open provocation to violence in educational institutes.

He made the observation in a post shared on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday (August 5).

Previously, Shibir President said JCD would not last 10 minutes on campus if Shibir resisted. Nasir’s Facebook came as a reaction to this statement.

Nasir claimed it is "utterly ridiculous" to hear such show of muscle power from those who remained underground during the entire period of fascist rule, kept their organization inactive, and maintained their existence publicly under the shadow of Chhatra League.

He further alleged that while keeping a section of their organization underground, another section has been deployed to create conflict, which is a repetition of an old strategy to destabilize campuses.

In his Facebook post, the JCD leader added that terror tactics and atmospheric fear were created in various campuses across Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Chittagong through provocations from Dhaka.

However, he claimed that students have now begun building resistance against such activities and are no longer showing tolerance.

Addressing the Shibir chief, the JCD General Secretary said, "Not 10 minutes, not 10 years; even if 10 to 20 more presidents like you complete their tenures, you won't be able to achieve anything."

Concluding his post, Nasir stated that Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal believes in students' democratic rights and peaceful coexistence, not conflict. He emphasized that students will resist any ill-attempt to establish dominance through terror, threats, or provocations on campuses.
