Bangladesh target another golden campaign at Asian Speed Track Series

 
Bangladesh's roller skating team left for China on Thursday with high hopes of adding another glittering chapter to the country's growing success on the Asian stage, setting their sights on more medals at the Asian Speed Track Series Club Championship in Lishui.

A 27-member contingent, comprising 22 skaters and five officials, departed for the competition aboard China Southern Airlines. The squad features 12 female and 10 male athletes.

The championship will be held from 9 to 12 August at the Lishui International Speed Roller Skating Track, with clubs from across Asia competing in the regional meet.

Bangladesh travel to the tournament buoyed by last year's memorable campaign, when the team returned with two gold and two bronze medals. Once again, the skaters are hoping to keep that momentum alive against strong opposition, including competitors from China, Iran, South Korea, Russia and Chinese Taipei.

Before departure, the team received an official send-off from National Sports Council Director (Sports) Jahed Parvez Chowdhury. Bangladesh Roller Skating Federation President Dr Kamruzzaman Kaiser, General Secretary Lutfor Rahman, Bangladesh Athletics Federation General Secretary Advocate Ali Imam Tapan and Bangladesh Volleyball Federation General Secretary Abdul Mumin Saddam were also present.

"Our target is to maintain the medal-winning consistency," said Lutfor Rahman.
